I was baptized at St. Brides many moons ago -I am 46 now. My two brothers and sister all went to the grade school at St. Brides until we moved out of the city. I don't remember the church but it is beautiful. I will visit soon.

I was baptized at Saint Bride's in 1955 and the last time I was there was in 1996 to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, when they had a renewal of their vows. Such a beautiful spiritual place.

Interesting site, grew up w/class of 60, moved at end of 59 so graduated in Downers Grove.
Msgr Friel and his brother, at Our Lady Peace were pastors at that time. Remember the
class sizes and order the nuns enforced. Father Mockenhaupt, O'Brien, pacing reading
their prayers. Cardinal Stritch doing confirmation, wow did he have a heckva uppercut.
Anna and Henry Menningen lived next door w/their 4 kids. Crotty's, Cadman, Orr wow
so many, roll call of the auld sod each morning for sure.

Hi Patricia and all - St. Bride was not founded until 1893 and was a mission Church of St. Kevin for several years after. I will look in our books for any record, but can you check the date? If you could uplaod the picture from 1940 we can be sure that it is St. Bride, too!

According to their marriage license, my grandparents, Owen E. Desmond and Nellie Keating were married at St. Bride's on October 15, 1890. I have a photo of them on the steps of the church in 1940 that was taken after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary mass. Can anyone tell me where/how I can get official records from St. Bride's or from the archdiocese on this wedding and on other family members who may have attended and or received sacraments from St. Bride's from the late 1800s through the 1950s? I would be most grateful. Thank you very much. Patricia Biallas,

Robert Kawa-- I was a friend of your sister, Irene and have been trying to find her. I was so surprised to see your entry in the guestbook. Would you have her contact me here in the questbook if she is interested in having contact?
Roseann Wagner Moran McGreal, Fri, Nov 30, 2012, 2:26pm
I am looking for a copy of the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help which was offered every Tuesday night at St. Bride's for many years. At looking at your calendar, I don't think you have it now; but if you have an old copy I would appreciate a copy of my own. I have one from my sister, but it is missing some of the words from being used for so many years; especially "The Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary". Thank you and God Bless. Roseann (class of 60)

Rome, Suzanne, Debbie,
My love and sympathy goes out to you all. Carole was a unique and amazing individual .She cared very much for her family while caring for others who needed her kindness, wisdom and support. I have lots of memories of my best friend that will last forever. You all have memories of a life time to hold on to forever. She loved you all very very much.
Now God has Carole in his loving care. She is resting in peace and happiness. I will pray for you all and ask God to give you all the faith , understanding and strength you need at this time to carry on.

My sister MaryDan just told me that she got a call that her oldest friend, Helen Linklater (St. Bride's '61) died yesterday, September 9, 2012!
Her brother Michael (St. Bride's '60) and the friend of Helen's who phoned MaryDan were keeping vigil at the hospital. MaryDan had just told me hours earlier that Helen would be teachinhg pre-school this year instead of her usual 4th grade.
